Welcome to Becoming an Outdoors Woman in New Hampshire

Becoming An Outdoors-Woman is a workshop focused on the learning of outdoor skills - skills usually associated with hunting and fishing, but useful for many outdoor pursuits. Designed primarily for women, it is an opportunity for anyone 18 years of age or older, and is for you if:
  • you have never tried these activities and want the opportunity to learn;
  • you are a beginner looking to improve your skills;
  • you are familiar with some outdoor activities, but would like to try your hand at new challenges;
  • you are looking for the camaraderie of like-minded individuals.

Thank you to all who took the Beyond BOW Survey!
Congratulations to Lynne Lawrie -- winner of a $50 Certificate good towards the cost of a New Hampshire BOW event.
We appreciate your time and commitment to New Hampshire’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program; the survey results will help us plan future Beyond BOW events.

Fall 2011 BOW Weekend. Our successful 17th annual weekend event on beautiful Squam Lake was held September 9th - 11th. We had glorious weather and many smiling faces. Check out those smiles in the Workshop photos plus some lovely photos taken by Mimi Simmons. The 2012 BOW Fall Weekend event will be held September 7th - 9th.

Intermediate Fly-Fishing Weekend was held September 23- 25, 2011. This Beyond BOW event focuses on individuals with some fly-fishing experience. Enthusiastic participants learned skills necessary to become independent fly-anglers. Check out the Intermediate Fly Fishing Weekend photo slideshow.

We have added a calendar to the site which contains all the upcoming BOW and Beyond BOW events, registration opening dates as well as other programs of interest.

Fall 2010 BOW Weekend:
For those who missed the Becoming an Outdoors Woman segment on NH Chronicle  you can view the program on WMUR. They filmed it at the 2010 Fall BOW program held at Rockywold-Deephaven Camps on Squam Lake and we are very excited about it!

The Fosters Daily Democrat and Laconia Citizen ran a story which included interviews and a photo from the 2010 NH BOW workshop weekend.

Photos of the 2010 Winter BOW workshops have been posted on the photo album page.

Beyond BOW workshops that may be offered from time-to-time include:
Intermediate Fly Fishing Weekend
Nature Photography – Wildflowers and Waterfalls
Waterfowl Hunting Weekend
Turkey Hunting Weekend
Overnight Backpacking
Navigating in the Outdoors Workshop
Introduction to Trapping
Cook Like a Wild Woman
Saltwater Deep Sea Fishing Day Trip

If you attended a BOW workshop this year and have photos you would like to share, please email them to sherry@nhbow.com.

At last the much requested Recipes and tips from the Outdoor Cooking Workshop have been posted for download in PDF format! You will need Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded free, to view his document.
