2011 Beyond BOW Workshops

Beyond BOW courses are more in-depth than the beginner level, giving women the skills to become more independent and be able to do the activity outside of an organized class. Beyond BOW offers an opportunity to network and find like-minded people to share these activities with.

Introduction to Firearms

Want to learn about firearms? In this one-day course, participants will become familiar with all firearm action types, using the correct ammunition, proper maintenance, safe handling and storage. Live shooting opportunity at the range.
Cost: $55, includes equipment and lunch.

Deep Sea Fishing

This all-day fishing trip aboard the Yellowbird will introduce you to the basics of deep-sea fishing. You’ll learn about equipment, bait, fish identification, safety and caring for your catch. Use of rods and bait included. Water and snacks provided, bring own lunch.

Waterfowl Hunting Weekend

August 12 - 14, 2011
Barry Camp - Berlin, NH

Learn the skills to hunt waterfowl, including identification, gear, guns and hunting techniques. Learn firearm safety and try clay pigeon shooting. F&G biologists discuss waterfowl management and demonstrate how they catch birds to band. Stay in renovated, rustic cabins; includes all meals – even a game dinner on Saturday night!
Cost: $175.

Fly-Fishing Weekend

Sept. 23 – 25, 2011
Sportsman’s Lodge - Stewartstown, NH

Intermediate workshop for anglers with some fly-fishing experience who want to gain the skills needed to fly-fish on their own. Expert instructors will teach the finer points of casting; reading the water; picking a fly; and what to do when you catch a fish.
Cost: $275, includes food and lodging.
Bring own fly-rod.
