"I went to the NH BOW winter workshop on Saturday, and I participated in the Basic Snowshoeing and Tracking course, which was wonderful."

"Photos number 7 and 18 are of the Winter Survival Group. In number 7 they are getting instruction on compass use. Photo 19 is the summary section at the end.

The rest are of the beginning snowshoe class. Judy lectured on tracking, and used pelts to demonstrate the paw/track size and shape for various NH wildlife. In photo 3 we try on snowshoes indoors while our hands are warm. In photos 4 - 6 we practiced navigating the snowshoes in the deep snow outside the center. After lunch we headed out into the wood, as seen in photos 8 and 9. In photo 10 we stopped to view some tracks. During our hike, we spotted several tracks, including turkey, coyote, snowshoe hare, squirrel, and other small bird and rodent tracks. In photos 11-17 you can see that the recent fresh snow gave a beautiful setting for our hike."
